[CENTURY] Century Logistics

Century logistics just went below its SMA50.. dividend expected to be announced around end of April.. safe to buy at around RM1.65? Looking at the company site it seems like a good stock..

Any advice?
reply
if it went "below its SMA50", isn't that a clear enough sign to stay away?
reply
Hmm.. you're right from the TA point of view. Sorry, I'm still new to TA, am using a mix of fundamentalist and TA approach here. Looking at the charts closer, the stock seemed to turn around often after falling below the SMA50, thus my observation, in concert with the attrative PE of 8.1 plus the divident expectation. I'm gonna read more on TA before commenting further :P

hi budding, my approach may be different from yours., but ta+fa is always good. some people buy-&-hold (fundamentals), some people buy on the possibility of upsides/breakouts (ta), some people simply buy on rumors (luck?). i wasn't saying you were wrong, just trying to point out the obvious. if you have good enough reasons to support your trade, by all means.
good luck!

Appreciate your feedback phantom.. by the way, when a company buys back their shares, is that a good sign? Can anything be read into that?
reply
budding, i read this from lowyat.net and decided to keep it in my journal but i forgot the link:

Share buy-back could mean a few possibilities:-
1. Company is looking towards privatisation
2. Fundamentally sound companies will buy-back if they think the investment is worth their retained profits
3. Company wants to pay out dividends in the form of treasury shares
4. Management wants to support the stock price

If the reasons are 1, 2 and 3, then it will only mean good thing. But if the reason is 4, we have to be wary.

Thanks again phantom-san, I think I will hold this share for a while and see how it goes. Hope my analysis of the share works out!

watch the price movements around the weekly short term ma (eg.s/ema-20). good luck!

Wow! That's comprehensive! Thanks a lot for the information, I really appreciate it :)
BTW, there's something that's bugging me about warrants, which perhaps you can assist me with. Take Century-WB for example. Current price is RM0.745. It's maturing in yr.2013, conv. price is RM1.00 at ratio 1:1. Now, looking at current price of mother stock, is around RM1.65. So why would anyone buy Century-WB at the current price of RM0.745 (since after conversion would be RM1.745)? Logically, the warrant should be trading at a much lower price right?

Hope you can enlighten me on this ..

thanks,
BI

that is just a 5-min analysis, and i believe you'll find out information with more detailed research on the company.

frankly i don't quite understand the mechanics of warrants so i don't dabble into business which i "catch no ball". i advise you to do the same =)

regarding ur query, perhaps u can direct them to other gurus like jkasia.
