[PADINI] A good stock to have

I've profited from this stock thrice and earned dividends thrice. I first bought it at 1.15 which was at the high at the time. I sold at 1.40 on Thursday, after having delayed it even when the the first bearish sign appeared on 13.03 with a big black candle. Chartwise, Padini is moving downwards and is likely to remain bearish although some bulls appeared yesterday to support it at 1.40 and 1.41. But volume at 1.56m is low. I may be wrong; but it looks to me that Padini is in for a long fall, before finding support at 1.10 perhaps. Fundamentally it is a good stock with very good earning potentials. I will of course buy it gain once its chart shows an upwards bias. My target price for this stock is 1.80.

PS: I've a bias towards fundamentals. I try to combine them with TA. So far, it has worked well.

good observation. everything u said make sense to me. fundamental dont explain why stock like Malton trading at present level...using fundamental to invest in medium or short term is the easiest way to HOLLAND.

I bought the stock in 2004. Until today I have never sold the stock. My return of investment(ROI) for 2004 stock is 424%.

I continue to buy Padini in 2009. The ROI for 2009 Padini stock is 189%. I never sold a single Padini stock.

And then I continue to buy Padini in 2011. THE ROI for 2011 Padini stock is 40%. Never sell a good stock. Please look at my blog and I will explain why Padini has strong economic fundamentals.

Great. But isn't it time to take profit. I remember I bought Sime Darby at 3.40 I think in 1981 and sold it 10 years later at about twice as much. Come to think of it and after some quick calculations, I would have earned as much by keeping my money in a savings account on compounded interest at that time!

Sime Darby is very different from Padini. I am already making 424% on my 2004 Padini stock. What kind of financial instrument would you give you that return?

WE are talking about a passionate guy who founded the company and build it to where it is. Sime darby are mostly run by appointed CEO by Khazanah or PNB which is own by UMNO and has a lot of political and national agenda to fulfill.

Maybank, Sime darby or CIMB will never give you those growth value. Too many interest at hand.

I agreed with you. Some stock need to hold for long term but some not.
Then what is your target price for Padini? RM 2 or RM 2.4? Or RM 3
reply
Sebastian, I think you points is correct.
Starting last year Sep, I pick up stock only based TA anylsis. If good I buy.
Timing is very important.
But you sold Padini too early, At 1.4 there was middle size black candle. You need to check Moving Avereage too. It is strongly supported by 40 days moving ave.

Thanks for your response. I'm still groping about in TA. I'm still not able to read the charts well. I sold Padini because of the big black candle and because I had a tidy profit. I was subsequently proven right for a short while before the stock rebounded. My target was RM1.80 and still is. I did reach my target having rebought it at RM1.47. I bought some at RM1.58 yesterday. Unfortunately I don't share ValueInvestor's optimism which stretches too far into the future which current fundamentals of the stock do not justify it. People and conditions change over time. What looks good today may not be so tomorrow. Events of the past few days should be a sober reminder to us to treat even the seemingly solid as a rock companies with guarded optimism. If anything can fail, it will. Remember Barings et al?

longterm is bullshit. nobody knws abt future. fundamental is a dynamic thing. eg. what would be the fundamental of Genting if Pas take over pahang? overnite the fundamental change from i.e NTA rm 5 to debt rm 50 per share.
what would be the fundamental of airasia if oil price shot to usd200 per barrel?

there is only 1 warren buffet in the world, but there r many more great traders and great hedge funds. the stats explain itself.
